Surinam Airways has a new (used) Boeing 777, except it can't efficiently fly it on the one route its needed, even though it's well within the range of the plane. Formerly in service with Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) as 9V-SVL, the 17-year-old B777-200(ER) is leased from Boeing Aircraft Holding and replaces a single A340-300 the Surinamese carrier had operated. It is recalled that SLM, as the airline is commonly known, is looking to eventually replace the B777 with a B787 at a later stage.

As it stands, while it awaits PZ-TCU's induction into service, SLM relies on wet-leased equipment with B777-200(ER) EC-MUA (msn 28524) from Privilege Style (P6, Palma de Mallorca) having just replaced A340-300 OO-ABA (msn 835), on wet-lease from Air Belgium (KF, Brussels Charleroi), to conduct its sole longhaul service - Paramaribo-Amsterdam Schiphol.

According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, Surinam Airways also operates two B737-700s on scheduled passenger flights spanning Aruba, Brazil, Curaçao, Guyana, the United States, and Trinidad & Tobago.
